Chennai, 4th March 2019: Dhanvantari Nano Ayushadi P Ltd (DNA), for the first time in India/South Asia has established a first-of-its-kind Green Nanotechnology Research and Product Development, as per guidelines of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy). DNA has launched Nanolife, a chain of speciality medical centres in Chennai today to aid diagnosis and to provide treatment for chronic and lifestyle ailments. The Medical centre was inaugurated by Dr Kattesh V. Katti, also known as 'Father of Green Nanotechnology'. The launch was presided over by Ms Akhila Srinivasan, Managing Director - Shriram Life Insurance, Mr Abhayakumar, Chairman - Dhanvantari Nano Ayushadi P Ltd & Chairman - LifeCell International P Ltd and Mr Deepak Abhayakumar, Managing Director, Nanolife. Dr Katti was felicitated for receiving the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, during the occasion. Nanolife is a chain of Speciality Medical Centres providing treatments in the field of Oncology, Immunology, Diabetes and Orthopedic & Infectious Diseases. Being a Startup India Initiative, it imbibes the use of Silver and Gold Nanotechnology for Adjuvant Medical Purposes. Nanolife's treatment, named Arbudari, primarily focuses on the decision to not use man-made chemicals. It is a combination of gold nanoparticles with potent natural ingredients that target tumour cells in the body directly without attacking healthy tissue. The main aim of the nanomedicine is to boost the body's immune system to help it fight cancer and to ensure a better quality of life through the treatment period. The emergence of the concept can be traced back to over three decades of research in biomedical sciences done by Dr Katti. In 2005, the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health, USA invested in Dr Katti's Nanomedicine Research at the University of Missouri Medical School. This aided in the work towards the invention of the concept of Green Nanotechnology which allows the application of disease-curing phytochemicals to develop varieties of gold and silver nanoparticles for use in cancer therapy, ophthalmology, antibiotics and allied medical applications. Recognizing the tremendous futuristic value of Green Nanotechnology for Nanomedicine, Mr Abhaya Kumar, Chairman of Nanolife, obtained the exclusive license and global rights for a series of Green Nanotechnology Platform technologies invented by Dr Katti from the University Of Missouri. Nanolife embraces the humanitarian philosophy of the World Health Organization (WHO) which has forecast that "Over 85% of the global population would utilize one or the other form of alternative/complementary medicine during their lifetime". Dr Kattesh V. Katti, globally recognised as the Father of Green Nanotechnology and internationally acclaimed award-winning scientist, said, "NanoLife's products will be of tremendous help to Doctors practising Allopathic Medicine and also various alternative/complementary medicine modalities too." With over 50 patents and 175 inventions against his name, Dr Katti reiterated the need for adjuvant therapies like Arbudari in preventing and combating...

TAPMA Plans Huge Demonstration on 13th Dec. for Withdrawal of Plastics Ban

The Tamil Nadu Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (TAPMA) representing the interests of 8000+ plastics industries in Tamil Nadu, plans for a huge demonstration on 13th December for immediate withdrawal of plastics ban to be implemented w.e.f 1/1/2019. “Thousands of people from plastic and allied industries are expected to participate,” said Mr. B. Swaminathan, Chairman - Environment Committee, TAPMA, during a press meet held to announce on the upcoming demonstration. Mr. Virendra Bhayani, Mr. Brij Khandelwal, Mr. Rakkappan and Mr. Venkateswara Rao, Office bearers of TAPMA were others present. “The Tamil Nadu Government’s plan to ban single use plastics is not a right decision and will badly hurt the plastic industries and livelihood of workers. It is unfortunate that instead of taking a considered decision based on scientific facts, the state government has chosen to announce the ban under Rule 110 in the Tami Nadu assembly, as a pet project, and the same is reluctantly being implemented by the officials of various departments,” he added while listing out the shortcomings of the GO. 1. The GO is discriminatory in nature and allows the use of plastics in many Government Departments and the same is being banned for use by general public and private sectors. Example: Plastics bags supplied to Government Departments of Forestry and Horticulture are exempted whereas the same plastic bags supplied to co-operatives and private sector or individual farmers are banned. 2. The GO bans all form of plastics packaging including by small retail outlets, grocery shops, whereas the same is permitted for MNCs and FMCG companies. This will hit the business of over 200,000 small vendors hawkers, shops, hotels, restaurants, sweet shops, etc 3. This selective ban for small business and traders is discriminatory in nature 4. The GO bans the manufacture of several plastics items in TN denying the fundamental rights to do business with other states where such bans are not in place 5. The GO lacks clarity in many aspects and the Government is not able to offer proper explanation. This will lead to utter chaos and harassment of the industries and retailers, etc 6. The Government has not consulted the stakeholders like the manufacturers, user industry and trade bodies 7. The Government has not discharged its obligations- creating infrastructure for collection, segregation and facilitation of all waste (including plastics waste) - as per of Plastics Waste Management Rules 2016 and Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, before issuing this GO
