Bonfiglioli Sets Up a New Facility in Chennai

  Chennai, 28, September 2018 - Bonfiglioli Transmissions Pvt Ltd - the Indian subsidiary of Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. - worldwide leader in manufacturing gearboxes, gearmotors and drive systems - continues its expansion with a new manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. Operations commenced in September 2018. The new 132,000-square-foot facility has been built adjacent to the existing plant at the SIDCO Industrial Area in Thirumudivakkam. It houses modern assembly lines, a global R&D center and test labs, all built to the highest quality and safety standards, consistent with Bonfiglioli locations worldwide. With a capacity of 75,000 units per year, the new facility will enable Bonfiglioli to serve existing and new markets and customers in off-highway, construction, mining, agriculture and material handling applications. On the development, Ms. Sonia Bonfiglioli, Chairman of Bonfiglioli Group, says, "We have believed in the potential of this country since 1999, when we laid the cornerstone in Chennai. We have grown over the years, investing in plants, research and development centers, and highly specialized staff. This new investment is part of a wider expansion plan for India, which includes the existing facility in Chennai and a plant in Mannur, located close to Sriperumbudur, both focused on making gearboxes and gearmotors for mobile machinery, wind turbines and industrial processes. Meanwhile, the recently opened assembly plant in Pune, western India, provides 90,000 units per year, serving customers in the food, packaging, cement, steel, pharmaceutical, textile, material handling, sugar, power generation, paper and water treatment sectors. Bonfiglioli's 2017 revenue in India reached 7,332 million rupees, equal to 91.65 million euros, with a growth more than 80 percent over the past 5 years. With the new facility in Chennai, the company expects to continue growing in the next year.

CII and Grundfos Inaugurate GangaiAmman Koil Kulam (Tank)

  Chennai, July 11, 2018:Grundfos India, one of the leading manufacturers of intelligent and energy efficient pumps and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) along with Bala Vikasa, an NGO have worked on conserving and restoring alocal water body, Gangai Amman Kullam in Chennai. The fully restored lake was inaugurated on July 11, 2018 in the presence of Mr. M Govinda Rao IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Works), Greater Chennai Corporation and Dr.D Karthikeyan IAS, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, Government of Tamil Nadu. This is the first project completed under CII's flagship initiative "CII-SR Water Alliance". Historically in India, water bodies such as ponds and lakes have always played an important role in conserving water for meeting various needs such as drinking water, domestic uses, irrigation and cultural activities of the communities. Healthy lakes and their shores not only provide several environmental benefits but they influence the communities' quality of life. However, over the last few decades,peoplehave ignored these water bodies, leading to large scaledepletion, pollution and encroachments of most of these water resources. This has had a huge impact like,water scarcity orfloodsthusimpacting the quality of life of the citizens. The Gangai Amman KoilKulam, is a temple pond that caters to over a 1000 people in the community located off of the ECR Road. This restoration initiative included, cleaning the lake's floor bed, construction of the filter bed inlet and outlet, creating an easy access to the lake, strengthening of the bund, fencing and plantation around the waterbody. Through this project, the community will experience thriving flora and improvement in community health. Commenting on this initiative, Mr.Ranganath N. K., Managing Director, Grundfos India said, "Water is at the core of what Grundfos does. We clearly understand that this precious resource needs to be conserved. This initiative is an effort from our end not only to restore water bodies in the city but also create stronger awareness for water conservation. Success Doesn't See Gender

  We read many interesting stories about young male entrepreneurs who are thriving in the burgeoning Indian start-up culture. Unfortunately, not enough is being written about the women who are changing the entrepreneurship game in the country. Gender based inequality has deep roots in India, but the struggles women entrepreneurs go through are pretty much the same across the world. Despite the challenges, some have managed to break through the proverbial glass ceiling and are giving the men a run for their money. This International Women's Day, meet Kavita Sugandh who carved out a niche for herself as a successful entrepreneur and business leader in the thriving Indian direct selling industry. From making Rs. 35,000 in her first job to today making a 7-figure income in US dollars, she has come a long way! Tell us a bit about your background and how it influenced your decision to become an entrepreneur? I come from Nagpur from a traditional business family. My father encouraged me to start earning my own money from an early age. I always knew I wanted to do something on my own. However, lack of enough capital to get started was holding me back. After 8 years of working for leading MNCs, I quit my job and started an HR consultancy business. That was my first venture into entrepreneurship. So how did you go from there to direct selling? What attracted you to it? At the consultancy business, I was the CEO, administrator, and the clerk all rolled into one since I couldn't afford to hire anyone. Through hard work I was able to grow the business but my company was centred around me. I could not afford to fall sick or go on vacation since a lot of money was at stake. Also, all the profits seemed to only appear on paper and never in the bank! Two years after I started the business, a family friend told my husband and I about direct selling. The opportunity was through QNet, a prominent Asian direct selling company from Hong Kong. He and I went for one of QNet's international conventions where I had the opportunity to attend training programs and interact with other distributors from around the world to learn more about this business. I was so inspired by its potential that I came back home from the convention and closed down my HR business to focus on direct selling instead. How long did it take you before you achieved some level of success with QNet? For the first 18 months, I didn't make any money. I faced severe setbacks and rejections. That made me angry but it also fuelled my hunger to do better. When I earned my first major commission cheque after 18 months of hard work, the wait was totally worth it! I have never shied away from hard work, but as an entrepreneur with QNet I have experienced hard work at a whole new level. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a get-rich-sure business, provided you put your heart and soul into it. Has it been difficult being a woman in this business? I think men find it far more difficult. Women usually have all the traits needed to succeed in direct selling.
